We wanted to provide you all with an update on the general contractor selection for the C40 Garfield Park project. As you know, the RFP for the project was sent out to three prospective candidates in early April. In the months that followed, we received the proposals, conducted interviews and compared pricing, scheduling and experience with Passive House standards to determine which bid was the most competitive and which GC would be the best fit.
We are excited to announce that we have selected the joint venture of Skender and Ashlaur Construction to serve as C40 Garfield Park’s GC! Both contractors are Chicago-based, have a long-lasting partnership, and have previously worked with POAH in the past, most recently on the Salude Center YMCA development in South Chicago which was completed last year. Additionally, Ashlaur is both a certified MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) and DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise). Additional information about both contractors can be found on their respective websites: https://www.skender.com and https://ashlaurconstruction.com/.
We have begun to hold OAC (Owner, Architect and Contractor) Meetings with Skender, Ashlaur and our architect team of Nia Architects and Perkins & Will in order to continue to move the project forward to September’s City Council meeting.
Thank you all for your continued patience throughout this selection process!
