C40 Garfield Park Financial Closing and Construction Start

Hello neighbors and community members, we hope that you are doing well and enjoying this shift to nicer weather. As of Thursday, June 1st, the C40 Garfield Park project has officially closed financially! This means that the funding sources from our lenders and partners (from BMO Harris, The City of Chicago and Enterprise Community Partners) have been documented and finalized. We are thankful to all of you who provided meaningful feedback, attended our committee meetings, served as champions for thie project and were generally part of our years-long community engagement efforts,

The Skender/ Ashlaur general contractor joint-venture will be mobilizing and starting construction on today, June 12th, after completing site walkthroughs and obtaining the Notice to Proceed from The City of Chicago the week prior. We are currently anticipating that construction will wrap up by next summer and that the building will open by September 2024.

Working hours will be from 7 am until 3 pm. The GC team will put up a fence around the construction site to ensure safety of community members and pedestrians. POAH will also have security at the gate and onsite as needed. Flyers with the construction information have been distributed to homes, apartments and businesses within a few blocks of the project.

The ground breaking event and hiring fair dates for this project are still being determined, and that information will be relayed to the group in a upcoming update.

If you have any questions about the project, please contact Molly Ekerdt (312-283-0033) or Kyle Lilly (312-292-9880).
